Brown Lentil Puree for Herpes Patients

Lentils

Many overlook lentils, although it is an inexpensive way to obtain a wide range of nutrients. Lentils belong to the legume family, and they have several types. The most common types are brown, green and red lentils. Let’s prepare a nutritious, immune-boosting breakfast, a beneficial brown lentil puree for herpes (HSV) patients.

Nutrients in This Legume

Lentils are composed of more than 25% protein, which makes them an excellent alternative to meat. It is also a rich source of iron. It contains calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, zinc, B vitamins and folic acid.

Furthermore, lentils contain a wide range of beneficial plant compounds, such as polyphenols. The polyphenols found in lentils, such as procyanidin and flavonols, have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also worth mentioning that the polyphenols do not lose their health-promoting properties after cooking.

Lentils for Immunity

It is necessary to follow a healthy diet to fight HSV, especially one that contains immune-boosting properties. Lentils are rich in zinc, iron and vitamin B6. These vitamins and minerals are essential for immune function and help produce white blood cells. They also have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which help boost immunity. As for the protein, it is essential because it boosts immunity by helping in the synthesis and production of antibodies.

Additionally, zinc plays a vital role in producing a protein that helps regulate cell production in the immune system. This mineral helps activate the lymph T-cells that control and regulate the body’s immune response.

Lentils for Mental Health

Folic acid is essential for stabilizing mental health. The deficiency of this vitamin is one of the factors that cause bad mood and depression. Folic acid limits homocysteine levels.  This amino acid affects the production of serotonin and dopamine, which are essential hormones for mood.

Furthermore, the available magnesium is essential because it plays a role in reducing stress and anxiety symptoms. A deficiency of this mineral may lead to depression, behavioral disorders or anxiety. This mineral can reduce hormones that stimulate the production of cortisol and adrenaline hormones, and it can also block stress hormones from entering the brain. Additionally, it is essential for the absorption of mood-enhancing serotonin. Mental disorders are among the triggers for HSV outbreaks.

Lentils for Skin

Zinc helps support healthy skin. It also stimulates the healing of wounds and ulcers by reducing inflammation. This can help patients with HSV get rid of sores quickly.
